Notes:
This probably is not a popular opinion, but, Tom Hooper's Les Miserables (2012) fantastically exceeds expectations. Hitting the high notes combined with genuinely moving acting and excellent screenplay, the film is a heavy contender for major distinctions. Magnificently photographed, it makes you feel the post-revolution France. You might want to watch this again.

This film has the best Lincoln as perfectly portrayed by Daniel Day-Lewis. While the performances are trophy-worthy along with production design, the screenplay enjoys the benefit of the doubt. Nevertheless, this one deserves to join the roll of best history movies. Worth-watching.
